Japan Trip Cost: 2 Weeks by Rail for 4 People

Four friends, two weeks in Japan, three cities and the shinkansen between them. Six nights in Tokyo on the subway, the bullet train down to Kyoto for four nights of temples and buses, a day trip out to Nara, then three nights in Osaka before the train to the airport. Hostels, breakfasts, lunches, dinners and a steady run of snacks and drinks. Here is that itinerary costed out in full, with every shared expense itemised in Ninja Tab so you can see who pays for what and what everyone owes at the end.
